Artist's Comments

Its beena while since i used the grisaille technique, that mean using a color to define volume. Wanted tot ry a quick sketch and one thing move to another one. Sometimes color ends pretty messy like this one, but colors also have a cool part about using this tecnique.

People asked me for a tutorial longtime ago.

More than a tutorial this one will be about explaining the process.

First there, used my square brush to see the thmubnail, noticed the composition didnt worked so i cutted and moved the characters in diferent position and redraw them.

Twisted the ehad of the dragon, the cross at the background took a lot of attention and destroyed composition too.

Then added details to the dragon head, noticed it was edning pretty cool so i made it bigger, and also fixd anatomy of the girls.

This process took me more time that if i had made this one directly in colors, some values can get pretty messy if you dont move them properly like i did, so the result was a bit messy, next time i will continue color them directly, its easier for me that way.

Used around 5 to 8 diferent brushes on this one. Was fun to draw the dragon, i recoemdn yuo to try diferent process of colring like this one i did, you can learn something if you break the habit.

It's always interesting seeing how you work, man.. And it's always very inspiring seeing how creative and imaginative you are. Do you use references when painting things like dragons? Because she's beautiful, and I love the details.. Definitely a fun learning experience, thanks again for sharing your talent and techniques with us. c:
