I like how you kept the contrast and detail even in those very dark areas with similar values. I like how your eye jumps around from the spark texture, around the scarf-like cloth, and down to the crispy dirt textures. It feels pretty well balanced. I also like how you limited your palette- it's definitely easier to digest than some of your super-complex drawings.
Whatever your new coloring technique is, I think there is some value to it. It's hard to describe, but it's really easy to keep looking at this painting.

I think there should be more of that purple voidstuff, like on the tip of his fingers. The red looks like a big scarf, unless it's supposed to be something else. Maybe the void-shark-man should be eating something of the void to better match the title.
