Im glad i stuck with this anime, first epísode was interesting, second was bad ass, and third was epic(wait to the credits to roll to see something extra). This has to be one of my top animes to watch How can i describe this anime in a setence, probably like "if Code geas and Guilty crown had a baby".
i love the fact when heroes has not the upper hand, like a real powerful device that kills the enemies been pilot by a puberty kid that never wanted and knew how to pilot hating his dad or puberty grabbing boobs.
Nope, you wont see this on the anime.
Its a war anime, people will die, you know when an anime its going to be epic, because you can see grown up characters and epic music and i mean orchestra music
Basically the sory its Killzone videogame, earth versus mar, complot, tragedy, death. The writer its pretty clever, i liked that the enemy has better technology, this adds challenge to the protagonists and makes battles more epic. All characters are well designed, you think they are the main characters only to realize seconds later that they arent.
Episode two has epics deaths, that i havent seen in a longtime.
If you liked Aldnoah Zero because it doesn't have the stereotypical hotblooded pilot who wins by having a super prototype mech that allows him to be able god defeat his enemies through sheer firepower or other stuff, you'd like HEAVY OBJECT it's premise is two teenagers in the military destroying the settings version of non-humanoid giant mechas while not always having the advantage of a mech working near them by exploiting every single weak point available and coming up with plans in the small amount of time available
Wait you actually liked Guilty Crown? The detestable Code Geass ripoff that was so packed with excessive amounts of absolutely pointless fanservice it made me want to puke? Guilty Crown was in my opinion one of the worst animes I've ever seen, and not just because it was a Code Geass ripoff, but because of how much every single character in it sucked, not even the villains were interesting. Without good characters, a story is sadly nothing D:
As Code Geass is my #1 favorite anime, I'd love a good Code Geass ripoff, but Guilty Crown was not good, it was so bad I want all the hours spent watching it back
That said, ever since I saw this anime I've been waiting for it to finish airing so I can watch it without waiting between eps you did compare it to Code Geass, so now I am choking with anticipation!
Wow, I'm so glad you made this journal. This anime wasn't even on my radar, but after the first three episodes I can say I'm definitely a fan. Smart characters! Great responses to overwhelming technology! And Slaine, wow, on a fast track to post traumatic stress disorder (oh, the curse of white-haired characters)(he may be my favorite already). Thanks for posting about it!
I've been waiting for this anime to come out for months, because the music is composed by Hiroyuki Sawano - and bonus, Kalafina sings the opening! To find the work of both Yuki Kajiura and Hiroyuki Sawano on a single anime is totally nuts.
Love the bonus at the end of the third episode. GO SLAINE GO!
I watch all animes with music by either of those two, so I pretty much always know months in advance. The same can be said for Shingeki no Kyojin - I was waiting for it from the moment the announcement was made that Hiroyuki Sawano was going to be composing the music for it.
I started to watch this when I saw who makes the music. I liked all the episodes so far, but I find the reaction of the characters sometimes not believable. That is what I liked in Attack of Titan: when they met a titan they could barely move or do anything because of fear. Here a kid sees his friend die and he stays calm and starts to form a head already in his head. I think that is not how it would really work. But other than that I like the show and I can't wait for the next episode.
Im not sure how i would react, one time my dad falled from the rooft, and i was like calm like him, i was like passed out, but after an hour, i felt the adrenaline rush, my heart was beating fast, i got emotional, he is okay so dont worry, but you will never know how you will react, som etimes you dont even believe that really happended.
It is sad to hear that happened with your dad. I always get so scared when something happens with my family.
You are right that I will never know how I will react if something happens, I still feel like that at least - as it happened with you too - after some time you will realise that it happened and you will have some kind of reaction, emotion, something. But we will see how his story will turn out, and what is the reason behind his behavior.
Hm...I agree that the topic may make some people uncomfortable, but I believe there's more than meets the eye since it's by the legendary Watanabe after all (Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo). (Also while we're at it, Tokyo Ghoul & Barakamon are good too haha)
Oooh, I missed the obvious. In that case I take back what I said - Gundam has clearly done everything that Aldnoah Zero is doing. Two questions, though: 1. Hasn't the Gundam franchise pretty much done everything that can be done in mecha anime? 2. Just out of curiosity - I had assumed Gundam Unicorn had been adapted into OVAs rather than into an actual anime series? (Not that that changes the fact that Hiroyuki Sawano composed for it all the same.)
I will definitely give that one a try, the synopsis seems really interesting. That said, the wikipedia page says "Critical reception to the anime has been generally positive due to its delivery of conventional story elements often seen in the Gundam series alongside supernatural parts." Doesn't sound like a first of its kind... especially vis a vis Gundam....
Oh yeah, that quote wouldn't be the synopsis. But I just find it ironic that it's considered by reviewers to be similar to Gundam (out of all the examples that could be listed) when we're discussing how dissimilar it is to Gundam...
Gundam is from Sunrise, same guys as made Code Geass I personally am not a big fan of Macross, the whole singing thing is... blergh. But there was one good song in them I guess, even if I thought it was a bit overblown to have gibberish language lyrics, still it's just that I don't go watch a mech anime when I'm looking for a musician fantasy drama series, it's not K-On! >_<
If you want to give singing a place in your storyline, make a fantasy anime where there are bards like in old RPGs that can sing or play instruments to cast spells with a continuous effect
But there are a lot of shit Gundam series (I think there are probably more bad ones than good ones, and there are a lot of series), still I liked Gundam Seed quite a bit, and Gundam 00 was ok too, I'm waiting for Gundam Unicorn to finish as well, it looks promising. 08th MS Team was also pretty nice (although quite cheesy )
Worth getting into? Might be, but I always thought these series were overrated a bit (probably due to a heavily dedicated fanbase, like neon genesis evangelion, although that one is to an extent really good)
But I'm betting that if any Gundam series can compete with anime as shiny as this, it would be Unicorn; the one I have not seen.
no, that particular mecha feature i haven't seen before and for a good reason:it's stupid/flawed as all hell from any realistic standpoint - the usual OP feature is the opposite: force shields. Gundam is the allfather of real mecha anime, despite the fact it goes super-robot in its late stages almost every time.
what i was referring to was the compelling intrigue, variety of characters, political & strategic decisions being made as well as the social commentary from a state and species point of view. it's present in every gundam series and discussed through many ideologies.
i've yet to dive into macross but i'll get there eventually.
The music is one of the highlights. Especially in the first ep at the end. One thing I don't like are these super calm/emotionally dead characters. I mean he casually says they should go because there is a missile coming. Amongst other things. I hope they explain why he is like that because that ain't freaking normal.
I agree with both things you said. The music at the end of ep1 was beautiful. And I hope too that there is a reason for his calmness because it isn't normal and seems very strange how he reacts (not reacts) to things.
Indeed, Aldnoah Zero seems like it is going to be a very good anime series. I'm really enjoying it up this point.
NOW... I've also started watching 'Argevollen'... and the reason I can remember the name, is because I want to SHOUT that at the TV, because this series pisses me off so much.. its not even funny. "Argevollen" literally sounds like a word you'd use when pissed off.
I don't understand how someone with military training, can be so damn incompetent, and just generally a complete idiot. Like, with the main characters immature attitude, how did he even complete training? Seriously? Did every other member that was training with him, get killed during training.. and command was like "Damn were low on soldiers, well, we will just go with this guy, push him on through"
While I'm at it, Sword Art Online Season 2 is sucking balls.. Just watched the third ep of this show.. and What the fudge!? is all I can say...
The comment system on DA, and replying to people is such a pain in the ass...
(I was trying to figure out what I had originally said...and DA is so clunky)
Oh, nothing put me off, so to say, its just, my attention wasn't really hooked.
Now I did not finish the series either... I only watched a few eps into it. And that may be it in a nutshell. like I've watched some anime series, and it wasn't until the end where everything came together and just made it all work out.
